Joel: letterpress shop owner

On a colleague's recommendation, I went to Dependable Letterpress in San Francisco for some letterpress work. Upon arrival, I hadn't a clue what to expect, but when I opened the door and entered the shop, it was exactly what I wanted to see – a smallish, comfortable workspace, Heidelberg presses, containers of ink, dies, leads and type - in drawers. Joel founded Dependable Letterpress in 2002, in his basement in the Mission, but graduated the shop to a light-flooded workspace in Potrero Hill's Dogpatch in 2004.
